Internship Transit Clearance Compliance and Reporting
Who we are?
The Road Network Planning & Engineering department is responsible for design, optimization and planning of the FedEX Road Network in Europe, moving shipments internationally across Europe by road. Part of the FedEX-TNT integration, a key objective of the department is to build an international European Single Road Network, integrating domestic, international TNT and FedEX networks.
One key element of the integration is the standardization of transit clearance processes by implementing an integrated customs clearance application and standardized procedures to move customs controlled transit shipments through the network in a compliant way. The Genius International Transits (GITR) project is responsible for the implementation of these integrated customs procedures. Key goal of the project is transit capability deployment to achieve higher compliance using the GITR application.

What do we do?
The intern position will be assigned to the Transit Clearance Integration project (GITR).
The project works on the implementation and integration of Transit Clearance in the (former TNT) Road Network. For this purpose a standardized transit clearance system is implemented and operational procedures are being adjusted to this new standardized way of working.
The project is currently entering a next phase where focus will be more on correct process execution and performance to ensure a high level of compliance. For this purpose a KPI dashboard is developed based on the available data from the standardized clearance system. Based on the dashboard transit clearance performance can be made visible and continuous improvement initiatives will be initiated upon the data reported out.
In order to be successful the candidate must be able to:

Translate detailed data from the dashboard into management business information

Create reporting template to be shared with local teams and management throughout Europe

Data management

Compliance assessments both on document quality (scanning) and document processing (discharge)

Identify opportunities for improvement and propose solutions

Create and conduct problem assessment, root cause analysis and presentations

Liaise activities related to the dashboard with cross functional teams

Position Details
Full-time internship opportunity from February 2021 to October 2021. This position can be located in the Hoofddorp, Netherland (NL) area
Under close supervision, the successful candidate will assist with the implementation and further development of the dashboard as well as joining quality improvement initiatives throughout the European Road Network.
Preferred skill sets include

Strong computer literacy: Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint and Excel(Advanced Level)

Experience with Spotfire or equivalent data analytics tool

Experience with customs clearance in a transportation network or/and interest in further develop this knowledge

Good communication skills

Business analyses acumen

Continuous Improvement interest

Presentation skills

Attention to details

Demonstrate keen situational awareness within a teamed environment

Skilled in the development and presentation of insights and recommendations utilizing clean and concise communication

Qualifications:
