About the job De Volksbank Financial Markets is looking to appoint a highly motivated and passionate junior to sustain the growth in activity in this exciting area of sustainable Finance, and to contribute to its sustainable debt strategy. You’ll be supporting the sustainable Finance origination effort through creating presentation and analytical materials, covering market and internal developments. Your primary responsibility is to contribute to providing high quality disclosures regarding ESG related topics. This includes our annual report, investor reports, investor presentations and (inter)national ESG benchmarking surveys. You will provide us with gap analyses and quarterly monitoring reports, and you will be responsible for internal data-analysis to enhance our Eligible Green Loan Portfolio. Beside, you will help expand the existing sustainable debt strategy. Finally, you will support the reporting to the UNEP FI with regards to the Principles for Responsible Banking, the Carbon Disclosure Project, and all other future reports which will be needed to be compliant with the upcoming EU Taxonomy and EU Green Bond Standard.
Within the team, you will work closely together with one colleague who is now responsible for the sustainable debt strategy and ESG-ratings analysis. Within de Volksbank we have a multidisciplinary approach with regards to Sustainability. In this role you will work with a variety of departments and external stakeholders. You have an interest in non-financial disclosure and you have an excellent ability to write documents for different target groups, varying from accountants, investment managers and ESG raters.
About us De Volksbank Financial Markets (VFM) is a finance department with multi-disciplinary activities such as cash management, money-markets, liquidity portfolio management, collateral management, derivative trading and hedging, bond issues (preferably in green or sustainable format if possible), market making own bonds and trading. Front office activities are supported by Back- and Midoffice. VFM consists out of approximately 40 to 45 employees. Working for the VFM team means working in a fast moving environment, with dedicated colleagues who are very keen to help you to achieve your goals. The team operates in a lively, collaborative and supportive environment, where each day is different. Within VFM it is important to develop yourself, and we will support that with offering relevant courses. Since ESG is changing the Financial sector rapidly we are looking to expand our team to support this transition to a sustainable world and to the climate neutral balance sheet strategy of de Volksbank.
Practical background and relevance You are a well-organized person who can prioritize tasks and have strong time management skills. You are able to work independently and you are a committed colleague with a great sense of responsibility. If you have relevant experience in a sustainable finance environment, ESG reporting and/or law are considered as a plus. Also understanding of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standard and carbon footprinting in general and understanding of the different ESG benchmarks and the Sustainable Finance Action Plan in general are a big plus, but not essential. You don't have to be an expert yet (we will help you to become one), we find it important that you are enthusiastic, eager to continuously develop yourself and you want to contribute with innovative ideas. Of course you are passionate about sustainable finance, climate change and climate strategies.
You have: Academic degree, preferred a degree in Economics, (Sustainable) Finance, Business Administration; You have a least 1-year work experience or 6 months internship experience in a firm where sustainability was one of the topics you covered; Able to perform rigorous research and data analysis; High level of proficiency in MS Excel; Excellent communication and presentation skills a big plus (MS Powerpoint), written and verbal (English & Dutch).
