Exciting moment as we start to gear up one of Amsterdam’s most exciting new venues.  The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is looking for a creative and passionate Rooftop Head Chef to lead the culinary experience.   

 

What are my responsibilities?   

As the Rooftop Head Chef, you will bring to life a rooftop dining concept full of bold flavour, creative flair, and distinctive character. Think Latin-inspired small plates with a modern, fresh and dynamic twist.  Fresh ingredients, and vibrant presentation, crafted for sharing, connection, and perfectly paired with our handcrafted cocktails on tap. 

This is more than just a kitchen, it's an open kitchen set within the bar, inviting guests to engage with the culinary process and interact with the chefs. Your creativity and presence will be part of the overall guest experience, adding energy and authenticity to every dish served.  

You will lead the kitchen with vision and confidence, creating menus that surprise and delight both local guests and international travellers. From colorful finger foods to fresh, seasonal dishes, your culinary creations will elevate the rooftop's lively evening atmosphere. In this role you report directly to the Director of Culinary.  

In this role, you will oversee daily kitchen operations while embracing the mindset of an entrepreneur, treating your kitchen as your own business. You will lead and develop your team, manage food quality and costs, maintain inventory, and collaborate closely with the bar and service teams to deliver a seamless guest experience. You will also contribute to the development of new concepts, food-led events, and commercial opportunities that drive the success of the venue. 

What makes you the perfect candidate?   

You are a confident and inspiring kitchen leader who thrives in lively, fast-paced environments. You have experience running professional kitchens, ideally in lifestyle, rooftop, or high-volume venues, and bring a sharp eye for quality, a strong sense of rhythm, and a deep understanding of what makes a dish memorable. You lead by example, and you motivate your team to perform at their best through consistency, creativity, and clear communication. 

• You are energetic and curious, always eager to discover new experiences.  

  
  

• You communicate fluently in English; Dutch is a plus.  

  
  

• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  

  
  

• You work well under pressure, prioritize tasks effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.  

  
  

• A solid understanding of modern Mexican cuisine would be a welcomed plus.

A unique opportunity is awaiting you in the city centre of one of the most dynamic markets in Europe. We are excited that the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is currently undergoing a full transformation. A major investment has been made in the hotel which will result in completely renovated guest rooms and public areas, including a brand-new lobby bar, bakery & restaurant and a rooftop bar & terrace. The hotel will expand from 402 to 500 rooms and an additional conference centre will be constructed. The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel has a very high focus on sustainability and will aim to become an enhancement to the city of Amsterdam.
