Position

• Playing a critical role in how Invest International is seen, understood and supported by clients, partner governments, shareholders and policymakers.
• Designing the strategies and ensuring a successful execution of: Public Affairs, Press & Media, Marketing & Brand, Internal & External Communications.
• Advise and support CEO Melanie Maas Geesteranus and peers in the Management Team in the external positioning of the organisation.
• Increase the organisation’s visibility and impact within The Hague’s political environment and the broader public debate.
• Professionalize and provide strategic direction to the Public Affairs & MarCom team.

• Proven track record (15+ years) in public affairs and strategic communications, ideally in a context involving (Dutch) government, international cooperation, and/or the financial sector.
• A strong network in the Netherlands, particularly among journalists, media outlets, and the public affairs departments of our shareholder ministries.
• Engages seamlessly with senior stakeholders, delivering credible, strategic advice that drives alignment and accelerates decision‑making.
• The professional demeanour to truly act as an ambassador for Invest International.
• Proven ability to engage with the Management Board and Management Team as a strategic and trusted sparring partner.
• Fluency in Dutch (mandatory) and excellent command of English, the organisation's working language.
• A solid understanding of global affairs and sustainable development, particularly related to SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth) and SDG 13 (climate action).
• Experience leading teams and delivering complex strategies through cross‑organizational collaboration.

The remuneration for this position aligns with the public mandate of Invest International and follows the WNT-plus framework. The package is competitive within the public sector context and includes a fixed base salary complemented by a solid secondary benefits scheme.
